How can I use the Internet in Cuba?
Internet use in Cuba may be confusing and tricky sometimes. When traveling with your family, it is always good to have a way of communicating at hand, just in case.
Keep in mind that it is not going to be as fast as you may be accustomed.
How can I have Internet access in Cuba? 
One way is WiFi access.
Usually in most of the parks there is WiFi, as well as some restaurants and Airbnbs.
It is important that you know that in order to connect to the WiFi you should buy a prepaid NAUTA card that can be acquired at any of Cuba’s ETECSA offices.
So, how much does a NAUTA card cost?
A 5-hour card costs 125 CUP, and a 1-hour card costs 25 CUP. Don’t forget: you’ll need your passport to buy the card!
How does it work?
Easy, it requires a login and password that appears in the card you purchase. You enter the information and … voilá! You are connected.
The second way is Data access
You can connect to the internet through a SIM card. This way is more practical, since you are able to connect from your phone at any moment.
You are able to get a Cubacel SIM card either online or from the nearest ETECSA offices in the city.

You can buy your SIM card even before you land, and pick it up at the airport or at any ETECSA commercial office. You should show your passport when picking it up.

You should acquire it through the web page of the authorized international distributor, either at WiFi sites or in ETECSA’s commercial offices. Passport is needed for picking up the card.
What to do if running out of data? 
If you run out of data, you can always go to ETECSA offices and recharge your SIM card, or, do it through the website. You should recharge to the number assigned to the line.

Can You Use Your Phone in Cuba?
In order for your phone to be able to work in Cuba, it will need to use GSM technology, to be unlocked (SIM-lock free) and to operate on the following frequencies in order to be able to use a Cuban SIM card.
2G: 900 MHz 3G: 900 MHz & 2100 MHz 4G/LTE: 1800 MHz (Band 3)Make sure your phone is unlocked. Otherwise, you will not be able to use any Cuban SIM card.
